A Brief History of Our SchoolSt Mary’s High School was established as a co-educational High School (Years 7 to 10) in 1978 when the former schools conducted by the Marist Brothers and the Sisters of Mercy united under the one administration. The Marist Brothers withdrew from the school at the end of 1985, and the Sisters of Mercy maintained In 1993 the School was extended to Years 11 and 12. The first year 11 students were enrolled and sat for the Higher School Certificate in 1994. A building program was also completed, and most of the school buildings were refurbished as part of the program. The final phase of the building program, the Multi-Purpose Hall, Drama, Sport and Music facilities were completed in 2000. Parish support for the school is very strong, and the Catholic education is seen as a significant apostolate in St Mary’s parish. The school motto, "Reach Out", challenges all members of the school to work hard to realise the potential for excellence which rests within each of them and make the school one of which the members can be proud.
